CCL’s expertise in providing visually arresting sleeving solutions for unusual container shapes has enhanced the premium image of a new hair care product from Schwarzkopf & Henkel.

Schauma Tiegel is a cream for maintaining and nourishing hair, whose formulation rebuilds damaged roots in only two minutes. Packaged in a striking tapered jar, Schwarzkopf & Henkel wanted to complement its visual impact with a full-color sleeve.

The sleeve illustrates CCL’s ability to translate strong designs into functional finished products. Gravure printed in eight colors, the sleeve features a full-color photograph accentuated by a high luster silver border. Two variations have been produced to differentiate between the product types – a blue sleeve for dry and brittle hair and pink for silky hair.
Accurate shrinkage of the sleeve over the container’s curved surface has been aided by the use of a heat-activated adhesive to prevent the sleeve rotating. The selection of OPS as the sleeve material minimizes vertical shrinkage to ensure that the sleeve covers the height of the container.

The project also underlines CCL’s commitment to customer support, as the company supplied Schwarzkopf & Henkel with large volumes of digital proofs prior to launch and also undertook full production trials on a gravure printing press before receipt of the final design.
